Obverse

The obverse of the 1986 Chinese Gold Panda Coin presents an enchanting representation of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This remarkable design, consistently featured since 1982, offers a mesmerizing view of the largest edifice within the Temple of Heaven Complex.

Reverse

On the reverse side of the 1986 1 oz Gold Panda Coin, an endearing image of the Giant Panda takes center stage. In this particular design, the Giant Panda is depicted in its natural posture, walking on all fours, with lush bamboo stalks encircling its presence on both sides.

History

The giant panda is classified as an endangered species, with only around 1,800 individuals estimated to be left in the wild. Habitat loss, primarily due to deforestation and human encroachment, is the greatest threat to their survival. Conservation efforts, both in China and globally, aim to protect their natural habitats and increase their population through breeding programs and captive breeding initiatives.
