History
In 1948, Colombia Records introduced LPs made of Polyvinyl chloride, marking a pivotal moment in music history. These vinyl records stored more music, were less brittle, and had a quieter surface than previous formats. The vinyl record paved the way for cassettes, CDs, and albums. The first record made on an LP vinyl was Mendelssohns Concerto in E Minor by Nathan Milstein on the violin along with the New York Philharmonic.
