The Homestead Act of 1862 had a profound impact on Native American communities, including the Cheyenne tribe. 270,000,000 acres of land were transferred to private property which pushed the Cheyenne tribe out. However, the Dog Soldiers, one of six military societies of the Cheyenne tribe fought back.
