James Earle Fraser’s design for the US nickel was introduced by the United States Mint in 1913 and would remain popular until 1938. The design was so iconic that it was later revived by the US Mint in 2006 for use on the American Gold Buffalo bullion coin, as well as appearing on various silver rounds, silver bars, and copper rounds over the years. Now, BGASC offers the 1/10 oz SilverTowne Buffalo Silver Round to you for purchase online.

Highlights:

  • Arrives in flips or tubes of 50 rounds!
  • Replicates the historic Buffalo Nickel!
  • Contains 1/10 Troy oz of .999 pure silver.
  • On the obverse is an indigenous figure in right-profile relief.
  • The reverse includes an American bison in left-profile relief.

BGASC offers the 1/10 oz SilverTowne Buffalo Silver Round in both individual and bulk quantities. Single rounds are protected in plastic flips, while multiple rounds come in acrylic tubes or boxes depending on the amount purchased. Larger orders will come packaged in cardboard boxes that hold the tubes of 50 rounds each.

Obverse

The obverse of the SilverTowne Buffalo Silver Round showcases a Native American figure in right-profile relief, created by Fraser through a combination of facial features from three tribal elders of the early 20th century.

Reverse

The reverse of each 1/10 oz Buffalo Silver Round features Fraser’s skillfully crafted image of a buffalo, facing toward the left with intricate details in its fur and horns. This round serves as a beautiful celebration of the wild and untamed American West.

History

The redesign of several US coin denominations throughout the early 20th century showcased the artistic proficiency of the US Mint and American coin designers. This started with the US penny in 1909, as well as all four denominations of the US Eagle Gold Series in 1907 and 1908. Fraser’s redesign of the US nickel in 1913 was followed by the redesign of the dime, quarter, and half dollar in 1916 and the US silver dollar in 1921.
