In 1913, the United States Mint introduced a new design for the US nickel. Created by James Earle Fraser, this popular visual would go on to grace the nickel until 1938, be revived in 2006 for the American Gold Buffalo bullion coin at the US Mint, and also feature on countless silver rounds, silver bars, and copper rounds. Right now, BGASC offers the 1/4 oz SilverTowne Buffalo Silver Round to you for purchase online.

Highlights:

  • Arrives in flips, tubes of 30, or boxes of 1,470 rounds!
  • Features the designs from the historic Buffalo Nickel!
  • Contains 1/4 Troy oz of .999 pure silver.
  • Obverse includes a Native American figure.
  • Reverse features an American bison.

BGASC has the 1/4 oz SilverTowne Buffalo Silver Round available individually and in bulk. Individual rounds come with a plastic flip to protect the round, while multiples are housed in acrylic tubes of 30 or boxes of 1,470 rounds. The larger quantities of rounds are packaged in cardboard boxes, which hold 49 tubes.

Obverse

On the obverse side of the SilverTowne Buffalo Silver Round, you’ll find a stoic indigenous figure depicted in right-profile relief. Fraser created this design by combining the facial features of three tribal elders from the early 20th century, resulting in a truly unique and captivating design.

Reverse

The reverse face of the 1/4 oz Buffalo Silver Rounds features Fraser’s striking image of a buffalo, with its body facing towards the left side of the round. The buffalo’s features are meticulously crafted, with each detail of its fur and horns carefully depicted, showcasing Fraser’s exceptional skill as an artist. This round is a stunning tribute to the American West and a must-have for any collection.

History

James Earle Fraser is renowned for his redesign of the US nickel in 1913, which followed the redesign of all four denominations of the US Eagle Gold Series in 1907 and 1908, and the US penny in 1909. A few years later in 1916, the dime, quarter, and half dollar underwent a redesign, followed by the US silver dollar in 1921.
