These Circulated 1 oz Gold American Eagle bullion coins have been previously owned and/or circulated, therefore have scratches, nicks, dings, scuff marks, toning, coloring, spots or other surface marks and are priced accordingly. Secondary market Gold American Eagle coins such as these still contain 1 troy ounce of gold but can be purchased at a much lower premium than newly minted products, making them a very cost-effective option. Each of these gold coins have been tested for gold content and purity to ensure authenticity.

The 1 oz Gold American Eagle Bullion Coin from the United States Mint contains one full troy ounce of pure gold, which by law, is taken from newly mined sources in the United States. The balance of the coin’s composition consists of silver and copper, added to increase the coin’s durability and to help resist scratching and marring. Authorized by Congress in 1985 and first minted in 1986, American Eagle Gold Bullion Coins are minted according to the durable, 22-karat standard for circulating gold coinage. American Eagle Gold Bullion Coins are rich in history, too. The obverse is based on world-renowned American sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ design for the prized 1907 $20 gold coin. The reverse pictures a family of eagles, symbolizing family tradition and unity.

American Eagle Gold Bullion Coins are one of the United States’ only official investment grade gold bullion coins. Their weight, content and purity are guaranteed by the U.S. government and are eligible for inclusion in a Precious Metals Individual Retirement Account (IRA). American Eagle Gold Bullion Coins, with their unique U.S. government backing, may be sold for cash at many coin and precious metals dealers worldwide. They are also technically legal tender, although their face value of $50 is merely symbolic, because gold’s market price has historically been higher.

The obverse design on the American Gold Eagle bullion coin features a rendition of Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ full length figure of Lady Liberty with flowing hair, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, with the Capitol building in the background. This design is taken from the Pre-1933 $20 Saint-Gaudens gold coin which was commissioned by Theodore Roosevelt to create coins like ancient Greek and Roman coins. The reverse design of the American Gold Eagle coin, by sculptor Miley Busiek, features a male eagle carrying an olive branch flying above a nest containing a female eagle and her hatchlings.

The year on the coin will be chosen at random from our available inventory. Quantities of 20 coins will ship in mint tubes.
