{{/presale}}The SS Tilawa, also known as the Indian Titanic, met its unfortunate fate during World War II when it was sunk by Japanese torpedoes while on a voyage from Bombay, India, to Durban, South Africa. The wreck took down 2,364 silver bars to the bottom of the Indian Ocean. In 2017, a covert salvage operation recovered around 60 tons of silver from the shipwreck, and now, a part of that maritime history is available. 1 oz S.S. Tilawa Silver Rounds are now offered by BGASC.

Obverse
The obverse of the S.S. Tilawa Silver Round displays a design that captures the ship mid-journey, along with a map marking its final route from Bombay to Durban.
Reverse
On the reverse, youll see the SS Tilawa sailing peacefully on the open sea. The image shows the ship from behind as it embarks on what would become its ill-fated last voyage, carrying silver for minting in South Africa.
History
The SS Tilawa Shipwreck Silver Series gives collectors a unique way to own a piece of history. The SS Tilawa was a British India Steam Navigation Company liner that tragically sank on November 23, 1942, when torpedoed by a Japanese submarine. For decades, the wreck remained undiscovered along with the 60 tons of silver bullion it carried, until its recovery in 2017.

When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All products are discreetly packaged and shipped with full insurance included.
Most BGASC orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
