Obverse
The obverse of The Lost World Collection Dilophosaurus Copper Round features a left-profile image of Dilophosaurus. Its most distinctive feature is the pair of crests on its head, which were likely used for display and communication rather than combat. These crests were made of thin bones and might have been brightly colored.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the 1 oz Dilophosaurus Copper Round, you’ll find the common design element for the series. It includes a banner with the name “THE LOST WORLD COLLECTION” in distinctive lettering, set against a backdrop of foliage with dinosaur footprints.
History
Dilophosaurus is one of the earliest known theropod dinosaurs and represents an early stage in the evolution of this group. It lived during the Early Jurassic, a time when dinosaurs were diversifying. Its evolutionary significance lies in its position in the dinosaur family tree, as it’s a basal theropod.
