A Secondary Market silver bar is one that BGASC received from a source other than the original manufacturer of the bar. Toning is common in older silver bars and results from the natural oxidation process. If you notice toning in your bar, please note that it does not detract from the value of the silver.
Obverse
Obverse designs on the 10 oz Engelhard Silver Bars include the company logo, as well as the weight, purity, and metal content. The serial number of each bar is featured on the obverse as well. All of these engravings are in landscape orientation.
Reverse
Reverse design elements on these 10 oz Silver Bars from Engelhard come with a blank field. Although there are no engravings or inscriptions, there is a stippled finish to the background that gives the bars surface texture.
History
Engelhard Corporation is best known for the development of the catalytic converter. However, by the 1970s it was producing bullion bars that have become popular with investors. Engelhard closed following its 2006 sale to BASF.
