Obverse

On the obverse of each 12 oz Gold Panda Coin is the iconic Temple of Heaven, an architectural treasure and sacred site in Beijing. This building has graced the Gold Panda series since its start in 1982, representing Chinese cultural and historical pride.

Reverse

The reverse side of each 12 oz Chinese Gold Panda Coin features a giant panda. Each years coin showcases a new design of the panda, symbolizing hope and conservation efforts. In 2016, pandas were reclassified as vulnerable thanks to significant strides in conservation, making them an enduring symbol of success in protecting endangered wildlife.

History

Known scientifically as Ailuropoda melanoleuca, the giant panda is native to central China, specifically the mountains of Sichuan. These black and white bears rely on a bamboo-rich diet to survive, spending most of their day foraging and eating. Recognized worldwide, they serve as a symbol of Chinas commitment to conservation.
