{{/presale}}Introducing the Fairmont Collection hoard of Pre-33 US Gold Coins, an exciting discovery that has numismatists buzzing with anticipation. This extraordinary assortment includes Half Eagle, Eagle, and Double Eagle specimens, which once resided outside the United States due to international commerce but have now been repatriated to the US starting in the late 2010s. BGASC is thrilled to offer you the chance to own a certified 1854-S $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coin from this remarkable collection.
Highlights:
Each 1854-S $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coin offered here is in AU50 condition according to the PCGS. Coins with this grade show extremely light wear patterns, mainly limited to the highest relief points on the coin. Most coins at this grade retain medium to near-full mint luster.
Obverse
The obverse of the 1854-S Liberty Gold Eagle boasts the iconic Lady Liberty portrait by Christian Gobrecht. This long-standing design features Liberty in left-profile relief, adorned with a coronet crown and encircled by a ring of 13 stars. The coin’s date mark “1854” is positioned at the bottom of the design field.
Reverse
On the reverse, you’ll find the heraldic eagle, also designed by Christian Gobrecht, the 3rd Chief Engraver of the United States Mint. This majestic image depicts a bald eagle in front-facing relief, proudly displaying the US national shield on its chest, wings outstretched, holding an olive branch in one talon and arrows of war in the other.
History
Hailing from the inaugural year of the San Francisco Mint in 1854, these $10 Liberty Gold Eagles hold historical significance. Discovered as part of a hoard of American coins stashed in foreign banks, the Fairmont Collection specimens are a true numismatic treasure.
