Obverse

History
Introduced in 1854, the $3 Indian Princess Gold Coin saw an immediate reverse redesign in 1855. However, the obverse and reverse design elements remained unaltered throughout the coin’s production. While these coins circulated predominantly on the US West Coast in the 19th century, they were not as popular on the East Coast, where paper currency was gaining prominence among Americans.
