History
The year 1875 witnessed the Carson City Mint issuing Liberty Gold Double Eagles for only the sixth time ever. Carson City first introduced Gold Double Eagles in 1870 upon its formal opening. Overall, Carson City produced 19 different date marks in the Gold Double Eagle Series. It abstained from issuing Double Eagles in 1880 and 1881, and no coins of any denomination were minted from 1886 to 1888 during its operational suspension.
