Design
The obverse side of the coin showcases Lady Liberty’s elegant effigy, accompanied by the inscriptions “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “1879,” surrounded by thirteen decorative stars along the rim. On the reverse side, you’ll find a majestic heraldic eagle clutching a bundle of arrows and an olive branch, accompanied by the “CC” mint mark and the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
History
During the introduction of the Morgan Silver Dollar in 1878, the Philadelphia Mint, San Francisco Mint, and Carson City Mint all played a role in its production. However, the 1879-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coin struck at the Carson City Mint had a significantly lower mintage compared to the previous year, with only 756,000 coins minted.
