Each 1879-S Morgan Silver Dollar Coin listed here is available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. These coins are carefully packaged individually in plastic flips, and multiples of 20 coins are available in protective tubes, when applicable. The 1879 release marks the second in the Morgan Dollar series and is significant as the U.S. Mint’s production capabilities expanded.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 1879-S Morgan Dollar Coin, youll find George T. Morgans iconic portrayal of Lady Liberty. She is depicted in left-profile, adorned with a Phrygian cap, a laurel wreath, and a coronet crown, making this design one of the most recognizable images of Liberty in U.S. coin history.
Reverse
The reverse of the 1879-S morgan Silver Dollar features Morgans artistic representation of the heraldic eagle. The design illustrates a bald eagle with its wings spread wide, grasping arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing the balance between war and peace. Unlike many other eagle designs, Morgans rendition does not include a national shield.
History
The Morgan Silver Dollar was first minted in 1878, produced at the Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Carson City Mints. In 1879, the New Orleans Mint resumed production after a long hiatus due to the Civil War. While San Francisco’s output decreased slightly to 9.11 million coins from 9.77 million the previous year, the return of the New Orleans Mint, which minted 2.88 million coins, contributed to an overall increase in Morgan Dollar production.

For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
