Representing a range of numerical grades on the Sheldon Numeric scale between 50 and 58, these specimens fall at the higher end of the AU scale. Obverse
The obverse of the 1882 $20 Liberty Gold Double Eagle Coin portrays a captivating bust of Lady Liberty. Designed by James B. Longacre in 1849, the profile of Liberty wears a stunning coronet crown surrounded by 13 stars.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the 1882-CC Liberty Gold Double Eagle Coins, you’ll find a magnificent depiction of the Great Seal of the United States. This intricate design of the heraldic eagle was also created by James B. Longacre, who served as the 4th Chief Engraver of the United States Mint from 1844 until his passing.
Ordering
The Carson City Mint commenced the production of Liberty Gold Double Eagles in 1870. However, these 1882-CC Double Eagles hold a special place in history, as they mark the resumption of Gold Double Eagle coining at Carson City after a brief pause in production in 1880 and 1881. Now part of the Fairmont Collection hoard, these coins initially served in international commerce and later returned to the United States in the late-2010s.

All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
