With a total of 28 years in issuance, the Morgan Silver Dollars were minted by the United States Mint in a range that covered the Reconstruction Era in American history through the Gilded Age and into the 20th century. The Carson City Mint played a prominent part in manufacturing these coins during the first decade-plus of production. Today, BGASC offers certified 1882-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins to you for purchase online.

Obverse

The obverse of the 1882 Morgan Silver Dollar displays a left-profile bust of Liberty, featuring the embellishments of a coronet and laurel wreath crowns. Encircling the design field, a ring of 13 stars accompanies this captivating portrait.

Reverse

The 1882-CC Morgan Dollars feature a depiction of the heraldic eagle on the reverse side. Created by George T. Morgan, the heraldic eagle design on this specific coin does not include the US national shield.

History

The Carson City Mint ceased operations in 1893 due to a decline in silver mining and a subsequent decrease in demand for silver coins. After its closure, the building served various purposes, including as a federal office, an assay office, and even a storage facility. In 1941, it was designated as the Nevada State Museum, and today it stands as a historic site and museum, showcasing the history of the mint and its impact on the region.
