{{/presale}}The Morgan Silver Dollar is one of the most celebrated coins in American history. First minted in 1878, this iconic dollar was produced every year until 1904 and saw a brief revival in 1921 after a 17-year break. The US Mint struck these coins at various branch mints, including those in Philadelphia, New Orleans, San Francisco, Carson City, and Denver. Among these, Carson City Morgan Dollars are especially prized by collectors. Currently, you can find 1884-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coins available from BGASC.
Highlights:
Each 1884-CC Morgan Silver Dollar Coin is offered in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and is individually packaged in plastic flips. For those looking to buy in bulk, these coins may also be available in tubes of 20. The Morgan Dollar is made from a blend of 90% silver and 10% copper, providing a beautiful and durable coin.
Obverse
The obverse of the 1884-CC Morgan Dollar Coins showcases a classic portrait of Lady Liberty, designed by George T. Morgan in 1878. This image portrays Liberty in left-profile relief, wearing a Phrygian cap, surrounded by a laurel wreath and a coronet crown. The design features a ring of 13 stars, symbolizing the original states.
Reverse
On the reverse, the 1884-CC Morgan Silver Dollar includes a distinctive depiction of the heraldic eagle, also crafted by Morgan. This design presents a front-facing bald eagle with its wings outstretched, clutching arrows, and an olive branch in its talons, symbolizing readiness for war and a desire for peace.
History
The Carson City Mint had a specific role in the production of Morgan Silver Dollars, strategically located to benefit from the nearby silver mines of Nevada and the American West. In 1884, the mint produced a substantial output, striking 1,136,000 coins that year.
