This design presents a front-facing bald eagle with its wings outstretched, clutching arrows, and an olive branch in its talons, symbolizing readiness for war and a desire for peace.

History

The Carson City Mint had a specific role in the production of Morgan Silver Dollars, strategically located to benefit from the nearby silver mines of Nevada and the American West. In 1884, the mint produced a substantial output, striking 1,136,000 coins that year.
