The 1886 release of Morgan Silver Dollars at the United States Mint marked a unique three-year run in which the Carson City Mint dropped out of production of the coins. This left the Philadelphia Mint, New Orleans Mint, and San Francisco Mint to produce the coins for national use. Now, 1886 Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available to you for purchase online at BGASC in certified condition.

Obverse

Obverse visuals on these 1886 Morgan Silver Dollars include the effigy of Lady Liberty. Designed by George T. Morgan, the image shows Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap on her head with the coronet crown and laurel wreath in her hair.

Reverse

Reverse design elements on 1886 Morgan Dollars feature the heraldic eagle. Also created by Morgan, this visual shows a bald eagle in front-facing relief with spread wings. The eagle clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons.

These 1886 Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available in MS64 condition. This grade is for coins that showcase average luster for the strike, along with several small contact marks in groups and one or two moderate marks. Small patches of hairlines are also possible.

History

For the Philadelphia Mint, there was only one date mark that did not exceed 10 million coins, and this came early in the decade. Overall, production at the Philadelphia Mint rose year-over-year across the decade. The 1886 date had the third-highest mintage at Philadelphia during the decade.
