All of our 1888 Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are certified Mint State 64 by NGC. These coins typically have an average mint luster for their age, with a few minor contact marks and possibly one or two moderate marks. You might also notice one or two small patches of hairlines on the coin’s surface.
Obverse
The obverse of the 1888 Morgan Dollars features a left-profile relief of Lady Liberty. Designed by George T. Morgan in 1878, it showcases Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, a laurel wreath, and a coronet crown in her hair. The field includes a date mark and 13 stars.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 1888 Morgan Silver Dollar, you’ll find a magnificent portrayal of the heraldic eagle of the United States. This version of the heraldic eagle, also created by Morgan, showcases the American bald eagle in a front-facing pose. The eagle spreads its wings and clutches both the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace.
History
In 1888, Morgan Silver Dollars were struck by the Philadelphia Mint, New Orleans Mint, and the San Francisco Mint. New Orleans issued the second highest volume of the coins with 12.15 million coins issued, while San Francisco struck a much lower total of only 657,000 coins.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies.
