These 1889 Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are in Mint State 63 condition. Coins with this grade exhibit impaired mint luster with numerous small contact marks and a few scattered heavy marks. There may also be small hairlines and detracting scuffs.
Obverse
The obverse design of the 1889 Morgan Silver Dollar features a left-profile bust of Liberty. Created by George T. Morgan, this image depicts Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap with a coronet crown and laurel wreath in her hair.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the 1889 Morgan Dollar Coins, you will find the heraldic eagle. Also designed by Morgan, this visual displays a bald eagle in front-facing relief with its wings spread wide as it grasps the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace.
History
Also happening in the United States in 1889, Washington state suffered a devastating event. On June 6, 1889, Seattle, Washington, experienced a devastating fire that destroyed the entire downtown area. The fire started in a cabinet shop and quickly spread, resulting in the loss of 31 blocks and over 120 acres of the city. Despite the destruction, the fire paved the way for Seattle’s reconstruction and modernization.
