Obverse
The captivating design on the obverse, crafted by James B. Longacre in 1849, showcases Lady Liberty in left-profile relief, adorned with a coronet crown. Longacre’s design of the Liberty Gold Double Eagle remained in use for an extended period, making it one of the two designs featured on the $20 Double Eagle.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 1890-CC Liberty Gold Double Eagle Coin, you’ll find the Great Seal of the United States, depicting the heraldic eagle with intricate details, including sunrays connecting the wing tips.
History
The Liberty Gold Double Eagles have a fascinating history, dating back to their introduction as pattern coins in 1849, followed by regular circulation from 1850. Struck annually at the Carson City Mint from 1870 to 1879, these coins hold a special place in American numismatic heritage. As part of the Fairmont Collection, these coins were part of a fantastic hoard of Pre-33 US Gold Coins that were repatriated to the United States from various banks across the globe. After spending over a century abroad, they have now returned home.

When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. Most BGASC orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
