{{/presale}}The US Eagle denomination was introduced by the United States Mint in 1794. Initially, the coins included denominations such as Eagle ($10), Half Eagle ($5), and Quarter Eagle ($2.50). In 1850, the Double Eagle ($20) denomination was added, featuring the iconic Liberty Head design, crafted by James B. Longacre, the 4th US Mint Chief Engraver. These 1895-S Pre-33 $20 Liberty Gold Double Eagle Coins are available in About Uncirculated condition. AU coins typically show light wear, with minor signs of friction on the highest points. Medium to near-full mint luster may still be visible on these coins.
Obverse
The obverse of the 1895-S $20 Liberty Gold Double Eagle shows Lady Liberty in left-profile relief. This design, created by James B. Longacre, features Liberty wearing a coronet crown. A ring of 13 stars surrounds her, symbolizing the original American colonies, and the date appears below her portrait.
Reverse
On the reverse side, Longacres heraldic eagle design is featured. The eagle holds an American shield in front of it, with rays of light extending from its wings. This design also includes the face value, national motto, and country of issue.
History
In 1895, the $20 Liberty Gold Double Eagles were produced at only two US Mint branch mints: the Philadelphia Mint and the San Francisco Mint. The San Francisco Mint produced 1,143,500 coins that year, making them a popular choice for collectors.

For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
