Obverse

On the obverse side of the 1901 $10 Liberty Eagle Coin, you’ll discover Christian Gobrechts Liberty design, an iconic representation featuring Liberty adorned with a coronet crown and encircled by 13 stars. Inscriptions include 1901, and LIBERTY.

Reverse

Turn to the reverse of this 1901 Liberty Gold Eagle Coin, and you’ll be greeted by the heraldic eagle design, a symbol of American pride. In 1866, this design was enhanced with the addition of the motto In God We Trust. Below the motto, an eagle spreads its wings wide, clutching an olive branch and three arrows, while proudly bearing a shield on its chest. Identifying marks complete this exquisite image. Inscriptions read IN GOD WE TRUST, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and TEN D.

History

The $10 Gold Eagle, an integral part of American coin history, was issued by the United States Mint from 1795 to 1933. Over the years, it underwent several design changes, but Christian Gobrecht’s Liberty design, used from 1838 to 1907, remains the most beloved and enduring.
