The $10 Liberty Head Eagle is one of the longest-produced designs in the history of US gold coins. Created by Christian Gobrecht in 1838, this coins design was used on several denominations, including the $10, $5, and $2.50 Eagles. The $10 Liberty Eagle remained in circulation the longest, minted from 1838 to 1907. Now, you can buy 1901-S $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins from BGASC in certified condition.

Obverse

The obverse of the 1901-S $10 Liberty Gold Eagle displays a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty. This design was introduced by Christian Gobrecht and is encircled by 13 stars representing the original colonies. The date of issue is inscribed beneath the image.

Reverse

On the reverse of the 1901-S Liberty Gold Eagle is the heraldic eagle, designed by Gobrecht. The bald eagle appears with its wings spread wide, holding arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing both strength and peace. The Type II version of this coin includes the national motto above the eagle.

History

The San Francisco Mint struck 2.812 million $10 Liberty Gold Eagles in 1901, a significant production increase compared to the previous years 81,000 coins. This made San Francisco the largest producer of these coins in 1901.
