Obverse
In the obverse design of the 1904 Pre-33 Liberty Gold Double Eagle Coin, you will find Lady Liberty. This left-profile bust was created in 1849 by James B. Longacre and shows her with the coronet crown.
Reverse
For the reverse field of 1904 $20 Liberty Gold Double Eagle Coins, the US Mint features the front-facing bald eagle with the US national shield. The eagle clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace. Sun rays connect the outstretched wingtips of the eagle with a ring of 13 stars overhead.
History
The 1904 issue of Pre-33 $20 Liberty Gold Double Eagle Coins came from the Philadelphia Mint and the San Francisco Mint, with the mints striking 6,256,699 and 5,134,175 coins, respectively.
