The first full year of production for the Peace Silver Dollar in the United States was the 1922 issue. Though the coins debuted in 1921, that was a transitional year as the US Mint moved away from its final strike of the Morgan Silver Dollar to the new Peace Silver Dollar. Now, you can add the 1922 Peace Silver Dollar Coins to your collection from BGASC!

  • Available to you inside PCGS slabs!
  • 2nd year of offering in the Peace Silver Dollar Series!
  • Total mintage of 51.737 million coins at Philadelphia!

  • The face value is $1 (USD).

Each 1922 Peace Silver Dollar contains .7734 Troy oz of actual silver content, and its $1 (USD) face value is fully backed by the US government. Graded Mint State 63 by the Professional Coin Grading Service, these coins showcase slightly impaired mint luster with some contact marks and possible scuff marks. However, they retain their numismatic value and historical charm.

Obverse

The obverse of the 1922 Peace Silver Dollar features a captivating left-profile portrait of Lady Liberty, adorned with a radiant crown and her flowing hair caught in the wind.

Reverse

On the reverse side, an American bald eagle perched on a rocky cliff proudly holds an olive branch, symbolizing peace, while its wings rest at its side.

History

The 1922 Peace Silver Dollar marked the resumption of silver dollar production by the United States Mint, after a hiatus since 1904. The Peace Dollar series was introduced to commemorate the end of World War I and to symbolize peace. It replaced the Morgan Silver Dollar, which had been minted from 1878 to 1904, and again through mid-December of 1921.
