Obverse

The obverse of the 1926 Peace Dollar features a left-profile portrait of Lady Liberty, created by Anthony de Francisci. Her head is crowned with rays of light, symbolizing enlightenment. The coins date and the national motto are also inscribed in the design.

Reverse

On the reverse of the 1926 Peace Silver Dollar, the American bald eagle is shown resting on an olive branch. This image, also by de Francisci, represents peace after World War I, with sunlight rays stretching out from behind the eagle to symbolize a brighter future.

History

During its years of production, Peace Dollars were minted at Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Denver. In 1926, Philadelphia produced the fewest coins, with 1.939 million pieces, while San Francisco struck the most, minting 6.98 million coins that year.
