{{/presale}}In 1935, the Royal Canadian Mint introduced the Canadian silver dollar as a special edition to celebrate King George V’s Silver Jubilee. Throughout its production span from 1935 to 1986, these silver coins showcased the iconic Voyageur design, becoming synonymous with the Canadian silver dollar. Right now, BGASC offers 1958-1967 Canada Silver Dollars in AU-plus condition for purchase online.
Highlights:
BGASC has the 1958-1967 Canada Silver Dollars in this listing available to you in plastic flips. Each coin is considered an AU+ specimen, or About Uncirculated. AU coins have a slight presence of wear and tear on the designs. The “plus” inclusion means these coins are among the more visually brilliant AU coins. Please note that toning is common for silver pieces and that the age of these coins means that toning is possible. Toning has no impact on the value of the silver and is acceptable for AU specimens.
Obverse
There are two possible effigies of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse of these Canada Silver Dollars. Coins released between 1958 and 1964 in this denomination have the Mary Gillick effigy of Her Majesty, a design that was the first of her reign. Coins dated 1965-1967 Arnold Machin’s second-generation portrait of Elizabeth II on the obverse.
Reverse
The 1958-1967 Canada Silver Dollars bear the renowned Voyageur design on their reverse side. Reflecting the captivating allure of the Canadian frontier, this design portrays a European explorer and a member of Canada’s First Nation tribes paddling a canoe along a body of water. The background field features undulating lines, skillfully representing the ethereal beauty of the Northern Lights.
History
During the production life of Canadian silver dollars, which lasted from 1935 to 1986, the coins became highly sought after by collectors and numismatists worldwide. They represented both a historical tribute and a tangible piece of Canadian heritage.
