Each 1988 1/2 oz Chinese Gold Panda Coin comes sealed in a protective plastic pouch. Originally struck in Troy ounces, this series switched to grams in 2016, with the 1/2 oz coin becoming a 15-gram coin.
Obverse
The obverse side of the 1988 1/2 oz Gold Panda Coin features the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This significant temple is part of the Temple of Heaven complex in Beijing, a well-known Taoist site celebrated for its history and design.
Reverse
On the reverse, youll find a Giant Panda seated and reaching for a bamboo stalk. The intricate design uses different finishes to create contrast between the pandas black and white fur, a beloved feature of the Gold Panda series that brings the coins artwork to life.
History
One intriguing fact about the Giant Panda is its sixth digitan adaptation that functions as a thumb. This additional digit enables the panda to grasp bamboo with ease. Known for its love of bamboo, the panda spends up to 14 hours daily eating, often consuming more than 20 pounds of bamboo each day.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies.
