History

The Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Series enjoys worldwide recognition, and the Royal Canadian Mint consistently releases unique coins like this one to add diversity to the series. The RCMP, originally known as the NWMP, was established in 1873 and currently serves in 8 of Canada’s 10 provinces, with responsibilities for internal security. They earned the nickname “Mounties” due to their service in regions where horses or sled dogs were essential.
