Obverse
The obverse side of the 1999 Mexican Silver Libertad Coins features the iconic Mexican national seal, depicting a golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus. The eagle gripping a serpent in its beak and talons symbolizes Aztec legends surrounding the founding of their capital city.
Reverse
On the reverse design, the 1999 1 oz Silver Libertads showcase the striking image of Winged Victory. History
Firstly, with a mintage of only 95,000 coins, it stands as the second-lowest mintage in the series’ history, surpassed only by the 1998 coin. Additionally, the 1999 release is the final 1 oz silver coin in the series to feature the older depiction of the Mexican coat of arms without the ring of 10 additional versions of the seal on the obverse.
