{{/presale}}One of the original refiners of gold, silver, and platinum bars in the 20th century for private investors was Engelhard. The company, founded in 1903, was among the first to begin offering bullion bars to private owners again in the 1970s when Americans were again allowed to own gold coins, bars, and certificates. Though Engelhard has since been acquired and shut down, its gold bullion bars are still a well-respected option in the industry. Right now, you can buy Engelhard 2 oz Gold Bars online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Provident Metals is happy to offer you the 2 oz Gold Bar from Engelhard for purchase online. Whether you purchase one gold bar or multiples, you will receive your bars inside of a standard, discreet cardboard shipping box. Each bar will be individually wrapped in protective materials to ensure safe delivery. These particular gold bars take a cast, loaf gold bar form.
Obverse
On the obverse side of 2 oz Gold Bars are the Engelhard logo with the inscriptions of the purity and weight noted as well. The Engelhard logo is a simple display that features a rectangle with the name Engelhard stamped inside. Above this, you will notice the weight and purity of the bar as 999.9 and 2.000. As a poured, loaf cast bar, you will see the tapered sides round down to the edge before you flip the gold bar over to reveal its flat reverse surface. You will most likely see the striations from the gold as it cooled and settled within the mold.
Reverse
The reverse face of 2 oz Gold Bars listed here comes with a blank field. No inscriptions have been stamped or engraved on this side on purpose. The only visuals you are likely to see will be striations, textures, and other marks resulting from the settling process as the gold cooled in the mold during production.
History
From 1933 to 1974, Americans were not allowed the right of private gold ownership. President Franklin D. Roosevelt had outlawed the hoarding and private ownership of gold coins, bullion bars, and certificates through Executive Order 6102. His effort was meant to secure the gold supply in the country under the control of the federal government during the Great Depression. President Gerald Ford repealed the ban on gold ownership and an Act of Congress allowed for Americans to once again own gold starting January 1, 1975. Since that time, the number of gold bullion bars, such as these, and countless other gold bullion coins has continued to increase in number and popularity.
