History
All coins in this listing proudly bear the “W” mint mark, indicating that they were struck at the esteemed West Point Mint. The American Gold Eagle Series, which started in 1986, introduced both BU and proof versions. In 1986, 1 oz proofs were released, followed by 1/2 oz versions the following year. The collection expanded in 1988 to include 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz weights.
