This 5 oz silver coin, second only to the 1 Kilo coin in size, has been a coveted annual release since 1996. The 2011 edition boasts a limited mintage of just 10,000 coins.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2011 Mexican Silver Libertad, the mint presents the national coat of arms of Mexico, adorned with a ring featuring 10 historical versions of the seal encircling the outer edge. At its center, the modern coat of arms depicts the golden eagle in left-profile relief, engaged in battle with a serpent atop a prickly pear cactus.
Reverse
Turning to the reverse of the 2011 5 oz Silver Libertad Coins, one encounters a captivating depiction of Winged Victory, an emblematic figure of the Mexican Revolution. This portrayal, reminiscent of the Mexican Independence Victory Column, showcases the angelic figure clutching a laurel wreath in one hand and broken chains in the other, set against a backdrop featuring the volcanic peaks of Popocatepelt and Iztaccihuatl.
History
In 1996, the Mexican Mint introduced two larger coins that had not previously existed in the series. From 1982 to 1990, there was only a 1 oz silver coin available in the collection. Fractional ounces were introduced in 1991, followed by the 2 oz and 5 oz coins in 1996.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. Most BGASC orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.
All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
