History
Introduced in 2006, these 2016 coins mark the 10th anniversary of the esteemed Gold Buffalo program by the United States Mint. Available in one-ounce bullion and proof products, these coins continue the legacy of exceptional craftsmanship. While fractional-weight proofs were struck only once in 2008, the one-ounce coins remain a timeless favorite among collectors.
James Earle Fraser’s iconic Buffalo Nickel design adorns the American Gold Buffalo, paying homage to a classic era. His portrayal of a Native American chief and a North American bison, first seen on the nations five-cent piece in 1913, remains a symbol of historical significance.
