History
The 2021 release of American Silver Eagles marked the 35th anniversary of the series. On the occasion of this major milestone, the US Mint changed the reverse design of the coins. However, the 2021 production cycle at the US Mint was split to feature 2021 Silver Eagles with the original reverse design, known for the 2021 release as Type 1, and 2021 Silver Eagles with the new reverse design, known for the year as Type 2.
