{{/presale}}The Austrian Philharmonic coin is one of the most popular anywhere on the globe. This coin celebrates the Philharmonic Orchestra, which began its journey in 1842 when it gave its first concert. These highly detailed platinum coins are packaged with great care to ensure they arrive to you unscathed. Individual coins are packed inside a protective plastic flip. Lots of 10 coins are shipped inside a protective tube and lots of 100 coins are shipped inside a protective box.
Obverse
The obverse of these coins features a detailed depiction of the Grand Concert Hall. This is where the orchestra performs when in Austria. The grand pipe organ is visible on the obverse as well and is a central fixture of the Grand Concert Hall. The obverse also features the coins mintage year, its weight, purity, and metal content. The face value is also stamped.
Reverse
The reverse of this coin features a set of musical instruments used in the orchestra. The violin, harp, bass, and more are present in stunning detail. Wiener Philharmoniker is also stamped along the top edge of the reverse.
History
The Austrian Philharmonic coin was first minted in 1989 as a one-ounce gold coin. The platinum version was not introduced until 2016. The platinum coin has always had its face value in euros, but earlier versions of the Philharmonic Coin, such as the initial gold coin, were denominated in Austrian Schillings. That of course changed once the euro was introduced for usage across the eurozone.
