Initially released under King George III, these coins were originally used in everyday transactions and were brought back in the 20th century as gold bullion pieces post-World War II. In the modern series, Queen Elizabeth II appears most frequently. Today, 2022 British Gold Sovereigns in certified condition are available at BGASC.
Highlights:
These 2022 British Gold Sovereign Coins are graded Mint State 69, indicating nearly perfect coins with original mint luster and up to two minor flaws. These minor imperfections are limited to small contact marks or hairlines not affecting the primary design elements. As DPL coins, they exhibit frosted designs and mirror-like fields. Each of these coins is among the last 500 struck in 2022 by The Royal Mint for the Gold Sovereign Series featuring Her Majestys effigy.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2022 British Sovereign Coins features the final effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This right-profile portrait shows her at age 89, wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown, and was created by Jody Clark in 2015.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2022 Gold Sovereigns is the Royal Arms, designed by Timothy Noad. The design features a shield with the coats of arms for England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, flanked by the Lion of England and the Unicorn of Scotland.
History
Queen Elizabeth IIs reign, the longest in British history, is remembered for numerous milestones. She modernized the royal family’s public presence, allowing television coverage of their daily lives in 1969 and opening Buckingham Palace to the public in 1993 to aid in funding Windsor Castles restoration.

Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.
All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
