Obverse

Reverse

History
The British government responded to the Boston Tea Party with outrage. In 1774, they passed the Coercive Acts, which the Americans referred to as the Intolerable Acts. These punitive measures were designed to punish Massachusetts and bring the colony into line. They included the closure of Boston Harbor and the imposition of martial law.
