These 2023-S Proof Peace Silver Dollar Coins are in superb condition, graded as PF69. They have the original mint luster, with at most two minor imperfections. These flaws, if present, are minor and located outside the coin’s central focus area, such as tiny contact marks or faint hairlines.
Obverse
The obverse design of the 2023-S Proof Peace Dollar features the radiant Lady Liberty. Created by Anthony de Francisci, his wife was the model for this portrayal. Lady Liberty is shown in left-profile relief, adorned with a glowing crown.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2023 Proof Peace Silver Dollars, you’ll find a peaceful scene of the American bald eagle at rest. The eagle is seen with its back to the viewer, perched on a cliff ledge while holding an olive branch in its talons.
History
Peace Silver Dollars were available from the United States Mint in two spurts. The coins were largely issued in the 1920s, with annual production from December 1921 until the end of 1928. During the Great Depression, previous silver dollars had been melted down to reintroduce the Peace Silver Dollar in 1934 and 1935.
