{{/presale}}Mexican Gold Libertad Coins have a distinguished history that traces back to the 1921 Gold Centenario, crafted by the Mexican Mint. This coin commemorated the 100th anniversary of Mexican independence, and 60 years later, the Mexican Mint brought those revered images back for the new gold bullion Mexican Libertad series. Presently, 2024 1/10 oz Mexican Gold Libertad Coins are available from BGASC.
Highlights:
These 2024 1/10 oz Mexican Gold Libertad Coins are offered in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. They are individually packaged in plastic flips to ensure their protection. The 1/10 oz size is one of the smaller coins in the Gold Libertad series, which includes five weights ranging from 1 oz down to 1/20 oz.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2024 Mexican Gold Libertad Coin features the modern coat of arms of Mexico. This seal includes a powerful golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus, engaged in a struggle with a serpent. This imagery is deeply rooted in Aztec mythology, representing the founding legend of what is today Mexico City.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2024 1/10 oz Gold Libertad Coin, you will find the iconic Winged Victory. This statue symbolizes the Mexican people’s fight for independence. Winged Victory is shown atop the Mexican Independence Victory Column, holding a laurel crown in one hand and broken chains in the other.
History
First issued in 1991, the 1/10 oz Gold Libertad has an interesting early history. The Gold Libertad series was introduced in 1981 with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1/4 oz coins. However, these coins were not produced again until 1991, when the series expanded to include the 1/10 oz and 1/20 oz weights. After a brief run through 1994, production resumed in 2000 and became an annual event starting in 2002.
