Initially, the South African Mint only offered 1 oz gold coins as South African Gold Krugerrands. However, in 1980, they expanded their offerings due to the series’ popularity, introducing smaller coins like the 1/4 oz gold coin.

You can acquire the 2024 1/4 oz South African Gold Krugerrand Coins either individually or in larger quantities directly from the mint. Single coins are protected in plastic flips, while batches of 50 coins are securely stored in acrylic tubes. All coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
Obverse
The front of the 2024 South African Gold Krugerrand Coin features a detailed portrait of Paul Kruger, originally created in the 1890s for South African Pound gold coins.
Reverse
On the reverse side of these 2024 1/4 oz Gold Krugerrands, you’ll find the graceful Springbok antelope. This design dates back to the 1930s and was previously featured on various South African currency denominations.
History
The Krugerrand honors former South African Republic President Stephanus Johannes Paulus Kruger and his role in important historical events. Notably, Kruger’s time in office saw the Jameson Raid of 1895, led by British administrator Leander Starr Jameson.The Jameson Raid increased tensions between the Boers and the British Empire, eventually leading to the Second Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902), in which Kruger played a significant role.

When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.
All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
