Obverse

The obverse of the 2024 Australian Gold Emu Coin features a left-profile portrait of King Charles III, marking his first appearance in this series. The design was created by Dan Thorne and shows the King without a crown, continuing the tradition of royal portraits on Australian coins.

Reverse

On the reverse of the 2024 1 oz Gold Emu Coin, youll find a detailed image of the emu. These large birds are known for their long legs and fast running speed, able to reach up to 31 mph. The emu is a symbol of the vast, diverse landscapes of Australia.

History

The emu is the largest bird native to Australia, second only to the ostrich in height. These flightless birds are well-known for their endurance and speed, with the ability to cover great distances in search of food. Emus hold an important place in Australian wildlife and culture, symbolizing resilience and adaptability.
