The obverse of the 2024 Colorized Australian Silver Lunar Golden Dragon Coin features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark. The Queen is depicted in right-profile relief, with identifying marks framing the image. Inscriptions read ELIZABETH II, 1952-2022, AUSTRALIA, 1 DOLLAR, JC, and 1 OZ 9999 AG.
Reverse
On the reverse, the 2024 1 oz Colorized Australian Lunar Golden Dragon Coin showcases a stunning lunar dragon. The design portrays a golden dragon flying and chasing a flaming pearl. The reverse also includes the P125 mint mark and the traditional Chinese character for the dragon. Inscriptions include P125 and DRAGON 2024.
History
The Year of the Wood Dragon in 2024 is an event that only occurs once every 60 years. The dragon is the 5th animal in the Chinese lunar cycle and stands out as the only mythical creature among the 12 animals. The Year of the Wood Dragon will last from February 10, 2024, to January 28, 2025.
