Obverse

The obverse of the 2024 Proof Colorized Fiji Silver Jukebox Coin features the Fijian coat of arms. While this side also shows an outline of the jukebox, the focus is on the national crest, which features a shield quartered with native plants and animals. The shield is supported by Fijians and topped with a traditional Polynesian canoe.

Reverse

On the reverse of the 2024 1 oz Proof Colorized Silver Jukebox Coin, theres a full-color image of a classic jukebox. These iconic machines were not just loved for their music but also for their eye-catching designs. When 45 rpm records were introduced in the late 1940s, jukeboxes expanded their selection of songs, further securing their popularity.

History

Early jukeboxes operated like automatic record players, playing 78 rpm discs. These machines became popular in social spaces, offering music lovers a range of genres like jazz, country, and early rock and roll. By the 1940s and 1950s, the “Golden Age” of jukeboxes had arrived, with manufacturers like Wurlitzer and Seeburg producing stunning machines that included colorful lights, rotating parts, and bubble tubes.
