{{/presale}}The Pia Colada is a well-loved tropical cocktail known for its sweet and creamy flavor, often associated with beachside relaxation. Originating in Puerto Rico during the 1950s, this drink is made from a blend of rum, coconut cream, and pineapple juice. The name Pia Colada translates to strained pineapple, highlighting the fresh juice that gives the cocktail its signature taste. Now, you can enjoy the spirit of this tropical treat with the 2024 10 Gram Colorized Samoa Silver Pina Colada Cocktail Coins, available from BGASC.

Though this side of the coin is not colorized, you can still make out the distinctive cocktail glass shape, including the straws and pineapple wedge that appear on the reverse. A proof-like finish enhances the visual appeal of this side with a mirrored background.
Reverse

History
The creation of the Pia Colada is often attributed to Ramn “Monchito” Marrero, a bartender at the Caribe Hilton Hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Marrero is said to have perfected the recipe in 1954, after months of experimentation to craft a drink that represented the islands vibrant flavors. The Pia Colada quickly gained popularity and was declared Puerto Rico’s official drink in 1978, cementing its place in the countrys culture.
