Obverse

On the obverse side of the 2024 2 oz Antique Silver Lunar Dragon Coin, Perth Mint showcases the final effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark in 2015. This iconic image, first introduced on Australian coins in 2017, captures the Queen at the age of 89 wearing the George IV State Diadem.

Reverse

Turning to the reverse field of the 2024 Antique Australian Silver Lunar Dragons, Ing Ing Jong presents a front-facing view of the dragon, portraying it as a benevolent creature spewing water forth from its mouth.

History

The Chinese dragon holds deep cultural and symbolic importance in Chinese folklore, particularly within the context of the lunar calendar. The Chinese lunar calendar, a fusion of lunar and solar cycles, designates each year to one of the twelve zodiac animals, with the dragon being a prominent member. In Chinese culture, the dragon is revered as a symbol of strength, good fortune, and power. Its significance extends beyond the lunar calendar, playing a vital role in various aspects of Chinese mythology and history.
