The American Gold Eagle coin series was introduced in 1986 by the United States Mint, bringing U.S. gold coin production back after more than 50 years. As the official gold bullion coin series of the U.S., these coins are admired for their elegant designs and gold purity. Right now, 2025 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coins are available from BGASC.

Each 2025 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coin in this listing is encased in a protective plastic slab and has earned a near-perfect certification. Coins graded as Mint State 69 have full mint luster, with at most two minor imperfections, like faint contact marks. The Early Release label means these coins were received for grading within 30 days of release from the mint.

Obverse

On the obverse of the 2025 American Gold Eagle is the iconic image of Lady Liberty, originally designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907. Liberty is shown walking forward, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, symbolizing enlightenment and peace.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2025 1 oz Gold Eagle Coin displays the American bald eagle in left-profile relief, designed by Jennie Norris in 2020. This updated eagle design shows off the eagles bold gaze and detailed feathers, making it a compelling addition to the series.

History

The American Gold Eagle coins reflect both the heritage and pride of the United States, showcasing icons like Lady Liberty and the American bald eagle. While the bald eagle is now widely recognized as the national bird, it initially faced opposition, with figures like Benjamin Franklin advocating for the wild turkey instead. Despite these debates, the bald eagles strength and grace have solidified its place as a symbol of America.
