The American Gold Eagle Coin is recognized as the official gold bullion coin of the United States. Released by the U.S. Mint in 1986, it was the first widely circulated gold coin in the country since 1933. With a composition of 22-karat gold, it contains 91.67% pure gold, while the addition of copper and silver enhances the coins durability. Right now, the 2025 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coins in certified condition are available from BGASC.

Obverse

The obverse of the 2025 American Gold Eagle displays Augustus Saint-Gaudens famous design of Lady Liberty, a representation of freedom holding a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. This design first appeared on the $20 Double Eagle coin, which circulated in the U.S. until 1933.

Reverse

On the reverse of the 2025 1 oz Gold Eagle Coin, you will find Jennie Norriss modern depiction of a bald eagle in left-profile relief. Introduced in 2021 to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the series, this intricate design brings the eagles powerful image to life with stunning detail and a calm expression.

History

The reverse of the American Gold Eagle features the American bald eagle, a symbol of strength and freedom. In Native American culture, the bald eagle holds deep spiritual significance, regarded as a messenger to the divine. Its feathers are often used in ceremonial rites, representing bravery and honor.
